현재에는  많은 다른 형태의 영어가 전 세계 사람들에 의해 사용되고 있다. 그중 일부는 영어를 모국어로, 다른 사람들은 제 1외국어로 사용하고 있다. 이런 식으로 점점 더 많은 사람들이 영어를 사용하고 있다. 영어는 세계의 언어가 되었다. 그와 동시에 영어도 하나 이상이 되고 있다.

 언어의 변화는 정상적인 것이나 영어에 있어 그 변화는 더 크고 더 빠르다. 왜? 영어는 전 세계적으로 사용되기 때문이다. 영국과 미국뿐만 아니라 다른 나라들도 영어를 그들의 모국어로 사용하고 있다. 이런 나라에서의 영어는 다르다. 지금 많은 영어가 있다.
